AUSTIN (CR) — Austin police are looking for the suspect who killed a 43-year-old man in east Austin on July 9.
Around 1:12 a.m. a 911 caller told officers a man had been shot on the 2500 block of Anken Drive. Dunieski Castillo-Leyva was found in his pickup truck with clear signs of trauma to his body.
Austin/Travis County EMS attempted to resuscitate Leyva, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by 1:28 a.m.
According to the Travis County Medical Examiner, Leyva was killed from a gunshot wound.
Witnesses are being interviewed by detectives while investigators search for leads. So far police say no one has been arrested, but they do no believe the public is in danger.
This is the 33 death in Austin this year.
