Austin K9 finds 66 pounds of cocaine leading to 2 arrests

AUSTIN (CR) — A traffic violation on May 31 led to the arrests of two men after an Austin K9 found narcotics hidden inside a Ford truck.

Armando Lopez, 28, and Rogelio Saucedo, 36, were pulled over on North Interstate 35 by police who immediately noticed an open duffle bag on the floor board of the truck. Officers noted what they believed to be drugs sticking out of the bag and called K9 officer Cuatro to the scene.

The K9 confirmed the bag contained drugs and found several more spots throughout the truck with narcotics totaling 66 pounds. Just under $4,400 was also found in cash.

The narcotics tested positive for cocaine by APD’s Organized Crime Unit.

Lopez and Saucedo have both been charged with Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
